We Accept CDCP In Edmonton
Orchards Smiles is a participating Canadian Dental Care Plan provider. We bill CDCP directly and welcome eligible patients of every age, from children to seniors.
Who Qualifies
Are You Eligible For CDCP?
To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must meet all of the following:
- You don't have access to private dental insurance (through work, a pension or a purchased plan)
- Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000
- You and your spouse or common-law partner (if applicable) are Canadian residents for tax purposes
- You and your spouse or common-law partner have filed your tax returns in Canada
What You’ll Pay
Your co-payment is set by the Government of Canada based on your adjusted family net income:
- Under $70,000
- No co-payment
- $70,000 – $79,999
- 40% co-payment
- $80,000 – $89,999
- 60% co-payment
CDCP fees can differ from what a clinic charges, and some services aren’t covered. We’ll tell you about any out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins.
Coverage
What CDCP Covers
Diagnostic & Preventive
Exams (including emergency exams), X-rays, cleanings, fluoride and sealants.
Basic Services
Fillings, root canals and gum (periodontal) treatment.
Major Services
Advanced restorative work, dentures and oral surgery such as extractions.
Sedation
Anesthesia and sedation to keep treatment comfortable.
Some services, including those beyond CDCP’s frequency limits, need pre-authorization. We request it for you.

Get approved
Apply through the Government of Canada. Once enrolled you'll receive your CDCP member details and coverage start date.

Book with us
Let us know you're a CDCP member when you book online or call. Bring your member ID to your visit.

We bill CDCP directly
We submit your claims and any pre-authorizations, and tell you about any cost the plan doesn't cover before treatment.

Does Orchards Smiles accept CDCP?
Yes. We're a participating CDCP provider and bill the plan directly, so you don't have to pay the covered amount upfront and wait for a refund.
Will I have to pay anything?
It depends on your adjusted family net income: under $70,000 there's no co-payment, $70,000–$79,999 is a 40% co-payment and $80,000–$89,999 is 60%. CDCP fees can also differ from the clinic's fees, and some services aren't covered. We'll always explain any out-of-pocket cost before we start.
Can I use CDCP if I have other government dental coverage?
You may still qualify for CDCP if you have coverage through a provincial, territorial or federal social program. Tell us about all of your coverage and we'll bill each plan correctly.
Do some treatments need approval first?
Yes. Some services, including those beyond CDCP's frequency limits, need pre-authorization. We handle the request for you.
How do I apply for CDCP?
Applications are made through the Government of Canada, not the dental office. Visit canada.ca/dental to check eligibility and apply. Once approved, book a visit with us.
